Knight Cities Challenge Winners
This summer we were delighted to be selected as one of 37 Knight Cities’ Challenge winners! Given the fact that there were 4,500 applicants, this was a tremendous surprise! We are indeed honored to be included amongst groups that are pursuing initiatives as varied as (i) the University of Michigan’s “Sensors in a Shoebox” (youth are being trained to use sensors and data analytics to track environmental conditions), (ii) “Steel City Salvage” (the Delta Institute is establishing a reuse facility that will reclaim building materials from vacant homes in Gary, Indiana, to contribute to economic growth, create jobs and support businesses) and closer to home, (iii) another Akron based project “Innerbelt Bicycle Park” that will provide new life for an abandoned section of the highway (see: www.wkyc.com).
Needless to say, life has become very busy — starting with the Summit in Philadelphia, and with activities related to planning optimal routes for ExploreAFoot hikers (and cyclists), the creation of marketing materials, a website, and much more!
Join us by reading our newsletter, checking out our website and hopefully booking an overnight walking or cycling adventure.
